Particle board-also known as chipboard and low-density fibreboard (LDF), is an engineered wood product manufactured from wood chips, sawmill shavings, or even sawdust, and a synthetic resin or other suitable binder, which is pressed and extruded.
They are sometimes used as an alternative to plywood or medium density fiberboard to lower down the construction cost.
The advantages of particle board for furniture:
Its cost is very low over solid wood or plywood
Light weight makes it relatively easy to transport and move around
The conversion time is much less as compared to post lamination
